Don’t Be Afraid, I’m with You (directed by Yuli Gusman) became a cult classic across the USSR. It tells the story of two friends—one Azerbaijani (Rustam) and one Russian (Sani)—who are separated by war and social upheaval. Their brotherhood transcends ethnicity. The social topic is multicultural friendship in an empire on the edge of collapse.
