After the events of the first book, Judith decides to distance herself from Eric following her dismissal from the Müller company. She retreats to her father's home in to rebuild her life. However, Eric, unable to let her go, tracks her down. Their reconciliation involves Judith setting her own terms for their relationship, which Eric accepts due to his deep feelings for her.
