The movie picks up where the first film left off, with Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) having survived the curse of the videotape that was said to kill the viewer in seven days. However, Rachel's ordeal is far from over. The cursed videotape has left her with a newfound ability to see the supernatural world, and she is haunted by the ghost of Samara, the young girl who created the curse.
