The protagonist, Ken Kaneki, has lost his memory and is living under a new identity: Haise Sasaki . He is now a First-Class Ghoul Investigator for the CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul), leading a special squad of half-ghouls called the "Quinx Squad." The story explores his struggle to balance his human duty to eradicate ghouls with the forgotten monster lying dormant inside him.
