Most Canon printers in service mode require a generic USB driver. If your printer is not detected, install the standard Canon driver first from the official support page.
Connect the printer via a (Wi-Fi connections will not work for service tools). Open the software and ensure the "USB Port" is detected. Navigate to the "Main" tab.
